a beautiful handmade sweater from my mom and a jumper from my dad (hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas!). I feel somewhat silly when I look at cute baby stuff because it seems so far away for us, and that is the tough part of the adoption... when is it okay to act like we are going to be parents? Getting the two gifts made the adoption feel more real... but we were brought back to reality this weekend by some scary "talk" AKA "possible bad news".
Possible bad news... all weekend long there has been "chatter" on the Great Wall email listserv about the wait. People are saying those with LIDs (log in dates) in 2007 or 2008 won't get a baby until sometime between 2014-2016. I have already emailed our dossier consultant to ask her where in the world they are getting this information. We know it will not be a short wait... we thought we were looking at about 3 years... but 8 years??? If there is even an ounce of truth to that, we will be completely devastated and have to regroup. Keep your fingers crossed for us that it is all hearsay and that we can still expect about 3 years...
